Susann Kobus

Susann Kobus was orn in Dresden in 1985. She started her piano studies with the pianist Karin Franz-Prade and joined the Carl-Maria von Weber music school in Dresden in 2000 as a young student. From 2005 to 2006 she studied at the University of Music "Carl-Maria von Weber" in Dresden. The year 2005, where she took part at a masterclass with Prof. Dr. h.c. Arbo Valdma in Heidelberg, marked a turning point in her career. She joined the University of Music in Cologne in 2006 and was admitted in his class as a student. In 2009 she graduated with a diploma. From 2010 to 2015 she made her doctors degree in the subjects Didactics of Music, Psychology and Education at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster.

Her repertoire is extensive and includes composers of the 20th century. Above all, Susann dedicates herself to classic and romantic piano literature.

She has already won several prizes in international masterclasses for piano and international piano competitions.

In September 2004, Susann successfully participated in the International Masterclass with the pianist Barbara Moser at the "Austrian Masterclasses" in Zell an der Pram. As the best participant she was awarded from the "Fondazione Antonio Salieri di Legnago" and she was invited to concert tours to Italy (including Verona, Cerea) and the Netherlands.

In July 2005 she took part in an international masterclass with Bruno Leonardo Gelber after a very successful two-part competition at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Susann also participated in international masterclasses with Prof. Arnulf von Arnim, Prof. Galina Iwanzova, Prof. Wieslaw Piekos, Prof. Manfred Wagner-Artzt, and Prof. Amadeus Webersinke.

In 1999 Susann won the first prize in the "Jugend musiziert" competition at the federal level in the piano solo category. In 2002 she received a sponsorship award at the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau. In 2003 she won the second prize in the competition "Jugend musiziert" at the federal level in the piano accompaniment category. In 2003 she successfully participated in the international Grotrian Steinweg competition in Braunschweig. In the "Jugend musiziert" competition, Susann received the first prize in the piano accompaniment category at the federal level in 2004. In May 2005 Susann successfully participated in the "Homage to Frédéric Chopin" at the Anton Rubinstein Academy in Düsseldorf and was awarded with the "Piano NEWS-Prize".

Susann Kobus gave concerts on different stages in Europe. She has already been to Prague, Paris, London, Verona, Krakow, Cologne, Dresden as well as in various cities of Austria and the Netherlands. In addition she was invited to give concerts at the Dresden Music Festival in Pillnitz/Dresden and at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Lübeck.

Susann also performed as a soloist with the Haydnorchester Dresden under the direction of KV Klaus Fritzsche and the Pärnu City Orchestra (Estonia) under the direction of Paul Mägi.

Susann is also a successful musician in chamber music. In the "Jugend musiziert" competition she won a second prize in the duo with the flute player Berit Schmutzler at the federal level. This duo has already participated in masterclasses with Prof. Irmela Boßler and with Sabine Kittel. From 2002 to 2005 Susann played in the pianotrio "Sonoro" (conducted by Prof. Helmut Branny, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden). In May 2003 the trio successfully participated at the international chamber music competition in Heerlen (Netherlands) and received a sponsorship award. The pianotrio also qualified with the first prizes of the regional and national competitions »Jugend musiziert« for the federal Competition 2004 and was awarded a third prize. In 2004 the pianotrio received a scholarship to participate in an International Masterclass with Sir Colin Davis, Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. Susann has been playing with the soprano Cindy Henker since 2000, and since 2004 she has been playing with the soprano Margarita Nosal-Strasser. Concerts have already taken both duos in different European cities. In addition Susann plays in the duo with the cellist Lorena Nitsch.

As a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, Susann Kobus regularly performs in Germany and abroad.

From 2006-2009 she worked as a teacher for piano in Dormagen and from 2008 to 2010 Susann was a accompanist at the University of Music in Cologne. From 2009 to 2011 Susann was a teacher for piano, chamber music and basso at the Städtische Musikschule in Menden (Sauerland). Since 2009 she has been a teacher for piano and elementary musicians in Münster.
